In 1947 the original station burned down but in early 1948, rebuilding had begun where it stands now and the doors were open again in the fall. Wally's talent for repair found him working on just about anything that had a motor ~ cars, tractors, trucks, etc.
Wally and Katie broke into the realm of car sales when they acquired the Chrysler-Plymouth dealership in 1941 and in 1953 they added GMC trucks to their sales.
In 1978 Wally and Katie retired and the business was continued by their daughter Evie and her Husband Lenard Mankus. In 1985 Len and Evie decided to switch from GMC trucks to Dodge vehicles and in 1998 they added Jeep to their vehicle line. |
